How do I learn English?

People learn English (or a foreign language) in different ways. In my case, I have studied English since I was in high school ( or the equivalent in Chile), however, I began to study more carefully when I studied my first year in the university and after, when I was a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In both experiences, the main part of my English learning was READING in English diligently.

In the university sometimes we had to read academic books in English. Reading academics books I developed my knowledge of a academic vocabulary in the field of the public administration. That was a very useful practice in preparation for my service as a missionary, a practice that I never imagined it would be helpful.

In the missionary field we received the first edition of the missionary handbook "Preach my Gospel", and of course this first printing was only in English. So, my companions and I had to start to read each day in English. This experience given me the opportunity to learn religious vocabulary.

I think that if you looking for opportunities to learn English, no matter where you are, you will have enormous opportunities to enhance and accelerate the development of a foreign language.
